Howard Brenner, LCSW

I have a Masters Degree in Social Work and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have also completed post graduate studies in contemporary psychoanalytic psychotherapy and integrative trauma training. I have worked with clients in a variety of settings, from community outpatient mental health clinics, to an outpatient psychiatry clinic in a hospital and a psychoanalytic training institute. I have a focus on working with patients with anxiety and depression, but have worked with clients facing a variety of challenges, including addiction, relationship issues, issues surrounding identity and sexuality and general issues around emotional well being. I work with both individuals and couples.

I am an immigrant to the US and previously had a career in television production, so have a very specific understanding around life transitions, identity and change. I know that making change is not easy.

My diverse experience in life gives me an innate ability to connect with my clients and work with them in a collaborative way. In order to get you where you want to be, I like to take a collaborative approach and explore at a pace that works for you. My goal is to support and understand you, while helping you to identify your current patterns and to begin to explore their origins. I am comfortable discussing our process as we experience it. I believe that building a strong relationship with my clients is key to the therapeutic process.

I believe that therapy helps individuals identify that they have many more options than they feel they do. I create an empowering environment in which to make those options seem more possible.

Ultimately, I want you to learn to have better moments and then to build upon those moments.

I look forward to working with you.
